General Questions

• Will the BenchMark Trader run on my computer?
  BenchMark Trader can be used on a PC with any of the following Microsoft Windows operating systems:
  Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista(32bit and 64 bit) or Windows 2003 server.
  
  Internet browser requirements:
  Internet Explorer 5.5 or later must be installed and should be the default browser.
  
  BenchMark Trader requires a PC with the following minimum and recommended specifications:
  
  Minimum
  CPU: Pentium 1.5 GHz
  Free hard disk space: 200 MB
  Modem/Internet connection: 56 kbps modem (56 kbps is possible but not recommended. 56 kbps might present problems when downloading the installations and upgrades)
  Screen resolution: 1024 x 768 (16 bit)
  RAM: 512 MB (1.5 GB if you are running Microsoft Windows Vista, because Windows Vista alone needs 1 GB)
  
  Recommended
  CPU: Pentium 4, 2.5GHz or faster
  Free hard disk space: 200 MB
  Modem/Internet connection: 256 kbps or faster
  Screen resolution: 1280 x 1024, true color (24 bit) colors.
  RAM: 2 GB (at least 2 GB if you are running Microsoft Windows Vista, because Windows Vista alone needs 1 GB)
  
  Other requirements:
  Support for right-to-left languages must be installed in Windows, in order to run the Arabic version.
  1) Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel.
  2) On the Languages tab, under Supplemental language support, select the Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages check box.
  3) Click OK or Apply.
  4) After the files are installed, you must restart your computer
  
  Adobe Acrobat Reader must be installed in order to view some of the analysis pages, incorporated into the BenchMark Trader. The latest version of the program can be downloaded from Adobe.
  
  The system must support long file names, i.e. file names that are longer than 8 characters plus a file extension For example, file names such as 'Supertrader.doc' must be possible.
  
  Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 or later is required to view some elements of the Help. The newest version of the program can be downloaded free of charge from Adobe.
  
  A JAVA virtual machine must be installed to view the Streaming News and Instrument Information pages. The newest version of the program can be downloaded free of charge from Java.
  
  Internet Connection:
  Access to the Internet is required through an Internet Service Provider (ISP), either directly or from behind a firewall/proxy which allows TCP Traffic through Port 1001 or HTTP traffic. Refer to the Firewall setup page.
  
  Macintosh:
  BenchMark Trader has not been tested on Macintosh, and therefore we cannot guarantee full functionality. We recommend using an Intel based Macintosh with a bootcamp Windows installation.
  
  Hand-held devices:
  BenchMark Trader cannot be run on handheld devices - Windows CE is not supported.
  
  Linux:
  BenchMark Trader cannot be run on Linux - 'For PC' emulation software is not supported.
  
  Windows 95,98 and Window Me):
  We do not support BenchMark Trader under these OS.

• Can I change the layout of the BenchMark Trader?
  The BenchMark Trader layout can be completely customised enabling you to: 
  
  - Add, edit or delete Views (with their access tabs) from the respective trade menus.
  - Add modules to a view from the respective trade menus.
  - Save changes to the workspaces from the File menu. You will also be asked if you want to save any changes when you exit the Client Station
  
  For more information refer to 'Customising your trading platform' in the Help function within BenchMark Trader (press the F1 key to start the help function)
  
  It is a good idea to backup your workspace file on different locations, e.g. other locations on your harddisk or on a USB stick. To do this press File > Save as... and choose your desired location.

• How do I know if I have the latest version of the BenchMark Trader?
  You will always have the latest version of the BenchMark Trader.
  
  Whenever you start the BenchMark Trader, it automatically checks for updates and notifies you when an update is available. You can then choose to update immediately or wait for a more convenient time.

• Is BenchMark Trader secure?
  In a word – Yes:
  
  All communications between the Client Station and the bank are encrypted using the Microsoft CrytoAPI and uses the Microsoft Base (or Enhanced) Cryptographic Provider. The encryption algorithms used are the RSA public key exchange algorithm and the RC4 stream encryption algorithm with a session key length of 40 or 128 bits.
  
  Private/Public key pairs are used to authenticate users, which are randomly generated from the Client Station in coordination with the bank. The public key is automatically sent to the bank for storage and the private key is stored on the client's machine. The private key can be either 512 or 1024 bits long and for all practical purposes, is impossible to break.
  
  With proper local administration of their User ID and Password, clients can be confident that they are well protected against misuse of their accounts from the Internet.

• When I open the Account Summary in the BenchMark Trader I get "Sorry you aren't entitled to use this function", what is the reason?
  This is more than likely because your Security settings are too high in Internet Explorer.
  
  To show the account summary please do the following for Windows 2000/XP
  
  1) Close the BenchMark Trader
  2) Open Internet Explorer
  3) Click tools >> internet options
  4) Click security
  5) Click trusted sites (in green)
  6) Click sites
  7) Remove the tick from "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone"
  8) Enter the site URL: https://mitsweb.iitech.dk
  9) Click Add
  10) Click OK and then OK
  11) Close Internet Explorer
  12) Open the BenchMark Trader and login

• I am getting "A newer version of this application is on the server. Please re-download this installation"?
  You are attempting to install the Client Station from an old installation file that was saved on your computer and is no longer valid. Download and install the Client Station again from one of the following links:

• I am getting the upgrade message repeatedly when logging into the Client Station, what shall I do?
  The Client Station is not being upgraded correctly. This is possibly caused by an intermediate proxy server caching old upgrade files and sending them to the BenchMark Trader instead of newer upgrade files.

Login Questions

• I am getting error code 10060, 10061, 11001 or 11004, what do I do?
  These errors are related to the BenchMark Trader not being able to connect to the trading server. Try the following, step-by-step:

  1) To check your internet connection, go to Prices and Charts and see if the prices are updating! If yes, your internet connection should be ok.

  2) The optimal way to connect to the BenchMark Trader is through port 1001, to check your connection settings in the BenchMark Trader, please do the following:

  a) Open the BenchMark Trader

  b) Click "Work offline", then go to: Tools -> Connection Settings

  c) For the SIMULATION system, the "URL or Domain name" should be: mitssimul.iitech.dk

  For the LIVE system, the "URL or Domain name" should be: mitslive.iitech.dk

  Port number should be 1001

  "Use HTTP" and "Connect via proxy server" should NOT be ticked.

  3) You can test connectivity through port 1001 on our port test page by pressing the "port test link". If everything is ok, you should get "You have reached the trading system port test page using TCP port 1001".

• I have a hardware firewall how do I configure this to work with the BenchMark Trader?

• I am getting: Illegal login or password: Error code: 0x8004000b or 0x80040009, what do I do?
  This is caused by using the wrong login id or password, you are connecting to the wrong platform or your account has expired.

  1) Delete your user name and password from the login screen, carefully retype these and try to login again

  2) Click WORK OFFLINE in the login box, check the "URL or domain name" is correct for the platform you want to connect to:

  Simulation platform: mitssimul.iitech.dk

  Live platform: mitslive.iitech.dk

  3) If you are still getting this error message then email Customer Service, including the error message, the platform you want to connect to (Simulation or Live) and your login ID.

• I am getting "Could not decrypt session key" when trying to login in a Windows 2000/XP PC, what can I do?
  1) Click OK to the error "Could not decrypt session key

  2) A new prompt will appear "There is a Key Mismatch, please...." please click "Close Window" to this error

  3) Go to Tools (on the top menu) >> Key management >> Delete current Key, delete the current key

  4) You will be asked "In order to login again, you will need either to load a backup key or generate a key", Click OK

  5) You will be taken to the Key Management screen, if you have a backup of your last key, load this. Otherwise click on "Generate new key", Click "Yes" to proceed

  6) You now need to contact your Account Executive or Customer Services to get the key activated.

• I am trying to login and I get "You are currently logged in from IP address . . . . ", what can I do?
  You are getting this error message because you are logged into a BenchMark Trader from another/or the same computer.

  Close the BenchMark Trader on the PC you first logged into to be allowed to login on the current computer.

• I am getting error code Could not create socket 10047?
  The PC is using Windows 95 which is no longer a supported operating system. Please upgrade to Windows 98 or newer.

Charts & news Questions

• I have problems seeing the Charts or News, what should I do?
  There are 3 possibles reasons for this:

  1)     You need to reload your .jar files by deleting all temporary Internet files:

  a)     Open up Internet explorer >> Tools >> Internet options

  b)     Click “delete files” (check mark in “delete offline content as well”)

  Close the BenchMark Trader and login again, check the charts/news

  2) Internet explorer security settings, if the security level of the internet explorer, is too high, the charts and streaming news, can in some cases be blocked.

  a) Open up Internet explorer, Tools >> Internet options

  b) Click Security

  c) Click trusted sites (in green)

  d) Click sites

  e) Remove the tick from "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone"

  f) Enter the site URL: http://cf-charts.iitech.dk

  g) Click Add

  h) Click OK and then OK

  i) Close Internet ExplorerCheck the charts and the streaming news.

  Close the BenchMark Trader and login again, check the charts/news

  3) You may have problems with java on your PC

  a) Go to the following page java test, look at section 9, the one with the yellow car

  b) If this says you have Microsoft Corp. then please do the following:

  c) Go START >> RUN, here type in cmd

  e) Type in: regsvr32 /u msjava.dll

  f) Click OK

  g) Then go to www.java.com, Click on the download now! button and download the newest version on Sun java

  h) If this says you have a version of Sun Java below 1.5, then please do the following:

  i) Go to www.java.com, click on the "Download now!" button and download the newest version on Sun java

  Close the BenchMark Trader and login again, check the charts/news

• I can login to the Saxo Trader but my charts and account summary all display "Action canceled", what shall I do?
  This maybe caused by the Saxo Trader web modules using the Internet Explorer proxy settings it they are present and the proxy settings are entered incorrectly or are no longer in use.

  To solve this please do the following:

  1. Open Internet Explorer

  2. Go to Tools and then Internet Options

  3. Find and click on Connections

  4. Click on the LAN settings button, make a note of these settings you see in case you have to roll back to this configuration.

  5. Remove any tick marks on the LAN settings window, except automatically detect settings

  6. Click OK and OK

  7. Restart the Saxo Trader and try viewing the web modules again

Cryptographic Key Questions

• Can I run the SaxoTrader on more than one PC?
  Yes, it is possible to run the trader on more then one PC.

  On the simulation this can be done by just downloading the system to the second PC using this link and logging on with the same login id and password: Simulation install

  NOTE: You can not login to the BenchMark Trader twice using the same login id.

  On the Live platform you have to do the following:

  1) To download the Trading platform onto the second PC, use this direct link: Live install

  2) When this is done you have to export your existing cryptographic key:

  a) Log into the working Trading platform

  b)  Tools >> Options >> Key Management >> Backup Key >>Enter a Password for the key (Note that this password is only to secure the key on the removable media) >> Choose a location (Floppy a: is recommended) >> A messages will appear 'Your Key has been saved'.

  3) Now you need to transfer the key to another PC where you have installed the BenchMark Trader:

  a) Log into the BenchMark Trader, you will be asked "In order to login again, you will need either to load a backup key or generate a key". 

  b) Say 'OK' to that message and go Tools >> Options >> Key management, Click the "Load backup key" button

  c) Choose the location where you are loading the key from and then enter the password you chose in b), when you have been succesful a message will appear 'Key imported successfully'.

  d) Login to the BenchMark Trader on the second PC, this time encypted.

• I have a hardware firewall how do I configure this to work with the BenchMark Trader?

  b) Click "change Connection Settings", then go to: Connection Settings

  c) For the SIMULATION system, the "URL or Domain name" should be: mitssimul.iitech.dk

  For the LIVE system, the "URL or Domain name" should be: mitslive.iitech.dk

  Port number should be 1001

  "Use HTTP" and "Connect via proxy server" should NOT be ticked.

  Please note that routers generally have built in firewalls. These firewalls can in some cases cause connection issues in regards to BenchMark Trader. Please refer to your routers manual on how to configure the firewall.

• I have the Windows XP Firewall how do I configure this to work with the BenchMark Trader?
  To configure your Windows XP firewall, please do the following:

  1) Go to "Start" - "Settings" - "Network connections"

  2) Right-click on the "local Area Connection", if you have got a dial-up connection, right-click on the "Dial-up" icon --> go to "properties"

  3) Select the tab called "Advanced" --> then click "Settings"

  4) At the "firewall configuration" window, select the tab called "Exceptions" --> And then click on the button where it says "Add Program"

  5) At the "Add a Program" window, click on "Browse"

  6) At the "File browse" window, browse for the ClmClientstation.EXE file. When you find this, double-click the file or click on the "Open" button.

  The default path is: C:Program filesBenchMarkBenchMark Trader

  7) At the next window click on the "OK" button.

  8) At the "Firewall configuration" window click on the "Add Port" button.

  9) At the "Port Configuration" window fill out the "Name" field with a name and fill out the "Port number" field as 1001. The type is "TCP" and click "OK".

  10) At the "Port Configuration" window fill out the "Name" field with a name and fill out the "Port number" field as 443. The type is "TCP" and click "OK".

  11) Click "OK" twice.

• I have a McAfee Internet Security 2005 suite how do I configure this to work with the BenchMark Trader?
  This will explain how to get the BenchMark Trader to run if you have the McAfee Security 2005 version 7.0 suite installed on your PC.

  1) During the installation phase of the BenchMark Trader, the McAfee Security Suite will come with an alert stating that program BenchMark Trader is requesting access to the internet. Click on the button “Grant Access” in order to continue and complete the installation of the BenchMark Trader.

  After the installation is complete you will want to run the BenchMark Trader for the first time. You will be presented with a login screen and using your provided login credentials click on the Ok button in order to logon to the BenchMark Trader.

  2) The McAfee Security Suite will come with an alert stating that the program IitClientStation2.exe is requesting access to the internet. Click on the “Grant Access” button in order to continue to login on the BenchMark Trader.

  You are now logged into the BenchMark Trader and have configured the McAfee Internet Security Suite to work with the BenchMark Trader.

  Please be aware that when new updates are available for the BenchMark Trader, the McAfee Internet Security Suite will ask you the same question as in point number 2.

• I have a Norton Internet Security suite how do I configure this to work with the BenchMark Trader?
  To get the BenchMark Trader to run if you have the Norton Internet Security 2007 suite installed on your PC please do the following:

  1) During the installation phase of the BenchMark Trader, the Norton Internet Security suite will come with an alert stating that the program BenchMark Trader is requesting access to the internet. Click on the button “CLOSE” in order to continue and complete the installation of the BenchMark Trader.

  2) The Norton Internet Security suite in default security mode will come with an alert stating that Norton Internet Security suite has learned that "IitClientStation2.exe" should access to the internet. Click on the "CLOSE" button to accept the alert.

  3) If the Norton Internet Security suite is set to "high security", Norton Internet Security will ask if Java applets should be allowed to run on your PC, allow these Java applets when using the BenchMark Trader as Java is an integrated part and is required in order to get the BenchMark Trader to run correctly.

  F-Secure configuration:

  1. Open F-Secure

  2. Click on 'Internet Shield'

  3. Click on 'Advanced'

  4. Click on 'Application Control' on the left

  5. Click on the 'Connecting' tab

  6. Click 'Add'

  7. Click 'Browse' and browse for the trade software's .exe file (IitClientStation2.exe) under C:\Program Files\BenchMark\BenchMark Trader

  8. Double click the .exe file

  9. Select 'Allow' for both Client (Outbound) and Server (Inbound)

  10. Select 'Application only' for both verify.

  11. Click Ok
